| -< WHERE are the Time Trials? >-
I'm interested in finding Time Trials, say about 10 milers that
are held in the evening or on weekends. Any location from Nashua
north is good for me. I would consider Mass. if its in the evening
weekdays.
Evening TT on Wednesday night in Nashua N.H. Route 111 from
Nashua To Pepperall and back.
Evening TT on Tuesday night in Gardner Mass. Route 140.
Evening TT on Thursday night in Holden on Route 68 near Holden
center.
Evening TT on Thursday night in Southbridge Mass.
Evening TT on Tuesday night in Concord Mass.
hill-climbs -
Mt Washington I think in On Sept 27th.
Mt Graylock in the fall.
Mt Wachusetts in Oct.
I'm sure other noters will have more details. This will give
you an idea about whats available.

77.2 | Nashua VELO Club Time Trials | TOPCAT::LOMBARD | TONAWANDA DWEAMA | Wed Jun 25 1986 15:32 | 10 |
| Although there are many around, the only one I know of is in Nashua.
It begins somewhere around Nashua High School on Riverside Drive,
just off Rte 111. It may also start at Matthew Thornton Health Plan
on Rte 111. It goes out to Pepperel and back and is sponsored by
the VELO Club in Nashua. As far as I know it is run on Wednesday
evenings around 6-6:30. You can get more information by calling
Goodale's Bike Shop on Main St. in Nashua, 882-2111.

77.6 | SUDBURY TT (9.2 miles) | USMRM2::PJOHNSON | | Mon Jun 06 1988 17:24 | 14 |
| There is a 9.2 mile TT in Sudbury, MA on Wednesday evenings. The
starting time is 6:30 pm, but it will get earlier toward the end
of the season, as the days get shorter. The TT is run by Frank's
Spoke & Wheel and it costs $1 to enter (for insurance).
It's one big circle, as opposed to an out and back course. There
are several small, rolling hills (by the end they seem like mountains)
throughout the loop. The record was broken last week at 20:55min
(26.4mph), so there are some pretty serious riders there. But don't
be intimidated, as there are a lot of not so serious riders as well.
Hope to see you there.

77.7 | | IAMOK::WESTER | | Mon Jun 06 1988 17:52 | 26 |
| BRC runs a TT on Thursday nights starting at 6:30 on Chestnut Street
in Needham (a little ways past McDonalds) that heads into Dover.
It's an easy 3.5 (I think) circuit that takes between 8 and 10 minutes,
depending on your speed. A lot of people do it 2 or 3 times. It
costs $2 or $3 for non members, although they're not collecting
yet.
I think the Sudbury TT is much better. It's more of an accurate
measure of your ability. Also, they have marshalls at intersections
who control traffic. It's probably the best organized of any local
event.
The only drawback is the quality of the riders. Those guys are
fast! Last week most of the times were in the 22 minute range.
I was a few minutes slower, and got passed by three guys including
the guy who scorched the course in 20:55 (disc wheel and all).
But then again, it really is just you against the clock, so the
only competition should be against yourself.
I find the first half of the course to be the toughest with the
hilliest terrain. after you hit the T intersection it's just go
as fast as you can.
It starts on Dutton road next to the Martha Mary Chapel by the Wayside
Inn.

77.8 | G.S. Crono TT in Nashua, NH | ARCHER::KLASMAN | | Tue Jun 07 1988 10:45 | 17 |
| G.S. Crono sponsors an 11.2m TT on Wednesday nights starting at 6:30pm. It
too will start earlier as the nights get shorter. The race starts in Hollis,
NH at Puritan Press on rt 111, about 4m west of rt 3 (exit 5W in Nashua).
The triangle course runs clockwise about 3.5m on rt 111 (rolling hills), 4m on
122N (basically a 4m hill with a couple of breaks) then 3.5m on Depot Rd (flat
/ downhill all the way!) back to 111 for about .2 to the finish.
I believe a new course record was set last week: 25:56 for 25.9mph. A wide
range of riders is usually there (18 men, 2 women last week).
Free for club member, $1 for non-members.
See you there.

77.9 | ROUTE 140 IN GARDNER | MCIS2::NORTON | | Wed Jun 08 1988 11:37 | 14 |
| There's a 12 mile time trial in Gardner on Tuesday nights at 6:30
p.m. The meeting place is on Matthews Street, off Route 140 South.
The TT itself goes north on 140 to the intersection of Route 12,
and back. It's rolling hills all the way. There's no charge.
I rode last week for the first time and didn't come in last (almost,
but not quite). The best time is just over 30 minutes, and the
average seems to be about 34-35. The group is mostly heavy duty
riders, but they're very friendly and happy to see new people.
It's very organized - each week you get a printout of the results
since the start back in April. The printout even includes the
temperature, dewpoint, and wind for each week!

Maybe I always show up late, but I usually finish first. 8^)

Well, I rode my Marinoni, so the only new techo-dweed I had was a mount for my
watch (only use the splits feature, not time-of-day!) on the bridge piece of
my Scott DH's so I can get my splits without breaking my aero form 8^)

How do you take splits? Are there mile markers painted on
the road or do you use personal land marks?

I use landmarks. The course is a triangle, so I take a split for each leg.
Lets me know how I'm performing from week to week. Esp on the rt 122 leg that
is virtually a 4m hill (with some flat to downhill stretches) and then on the
last leg, I can see how much the hill took out of me.
