63.0. "Bikes permitted on the T" by BANZAI::FISHER () Thu May 22 1986 08:37
Copied from today's Globe's Calendar (one could argue with some of the
adjectives, like "cinch" but I suppose that should be the subject of
replies anyway)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Transporting your bicycle from Davis Square to Revere Beach or Malden to
the Arnold Arboretum will be a cinch this summer, thanks to a new program
offered by the MBTA.
Beginning June 1, the MBTA will allow bicycles on the Red, Blue, and Orange
lines on Sundays and some holidays. A maximum of two bicycles will be
allowed in the last car of a train during all operating hours. Groups of
bicyclists will have to wait for individual trains.
Bicyclists need to purchase a special two year permit which costs $5, sign
a waiver regarding liability; and agree to rules and regulations
established for the program. The permit can be obtained at the MBTA's
Senior Citizen/Special Needs Pass office at the Washington Street Concourse
Monday through Friday 8:30 am-noon and 12:30-4:15.
