Hi There Guys , I have two (2) Questions that I would like to be clarified : 1. If I want to use Rate Based Flow Control ( ABR ) between Cisco Router 7000 running IOS VER 11.1.9 and our GIGAswitch/ATM ver 2.1.4 with the new DAGGL-BAs and implement LANE / SVCs , What is required on our GS/ATM as far as configurations ( or on the Cisco end )??. Has anyone out there implemented such a setup ?? 2. We know that we are limited today to 12 ELANs on the GIGAswitch/ATM, because the LES, LECS & the BUS live on the Master linecard..... and we support up to 5Mbps for each BUS. Because there are two BUS VCs for each ELAN, this mean 10 Mbps is reserved on each link for BUS traffic ( hence the 12 ELANs limit ). In the June '96 management manual page 5-25 ( BUS Commands ) there is an option for +/-tf ( Sets / Clears max forwarding rate from 100 - 5000 Kbps . Can someone explain the relationship of this with the 12 ELANs limit ?? Many Thanks in advance. Youda Kopel , NPB Aust. [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

1. We don't support rate-based flow control for SVCs yet. The reason is that we implement UNI 3.0/3.1, and the hooks needed for rate-based flow control are in UNI 4.0 and ILMI 4.0. UNI 4.0 is high priority for us, and I believe we have licensed a codebase, but I can't give you a date. 2. The "+/-tf" switch is probably there for the benefit of your LECs, not for reasons having to do with the 12 ELAN limit. Leave the control set to the default (or to 5000 Kbps) unless you run into broadcast/multicast storms. |
