920.0. "VC Load Balancing ... ?" by BERFS4::NORD () Thu Apr 24 1997 12:38
Hi ATM gurus, especially GS/ATM gurus,
Two DAGWG-AA with DAGGL-BA, in the DAGGL-BA are installed two
DAGGE-AA and two DAGGM-AA (the network is more complex, but
this is the basis), we will name it GS1 and GS2. On GS1 are
connected one database-server (DB1, port 3) and two E3-links
(port 1 and 2), on GS2 are connected two application-server
(AS1 and AS2, port 3 and 4) and the other ends of the E3-links
(port 1 and 2). We used clearVISN V1.1A to see what's going on
on the linecard of GS2. We started a
"rpc -r DB1:/usr /usr/test"
on AS1 and saw with CV11A the traffic is coming in on port 1
and is going out on port 3, then we started the same command
on AS2, and saw the same amount of traffic on port 1 is
coming in, one half of the traffic is directed to port 3, and
the other half of the traffic is directed to port 4. As the
documentation "GIGAswitch/ATM System Management, AA-QCV8C-TE,
on page 4-2 describes, "...multiple parallel links can be used
between switches." This isn't done automatically, as we have
seen with CV11A, but it isn't described in the documentation
how to enable this feature, nor is there any input how to
check this feature.
The second E3-link is functioning propperly, as we saw as we
disconnected the coax cable from port 1 on GS2. The consoles
of AS1 and AS2 reported a disconnect of the VC, but the "rcp"
is running well and on the CV11A we saw the traffic is
incoming on port 2.
Clock modules are CMM 1.82, QLCV2 are LC20R213.ROM and
LC20R213.BIN
GS1:
DAGWG-AA, slot 1 DAGGL-BA with three DAGGM-AA in port 1
till port 3, slot 4 DAGGL-BA with two DAGGE-AA in port 1
and port 2 and two DAGGM-AA in port 3 and port 4.
GS2:
DAGWG-AA, slot 1 DAGGL-BA with two DAGGE-AA in port 1
and port 2 and two DAGGM-AA in port 3 and port 4.
Any tips, any tricks, any hinds?
Thanks in advance
Wolfgang Nord
