916.1 | RFC1483 isn't enough | SMURF::GREBUS | DTN 381-1426 - Digital Unix | Tue Apr 22 1997 14:48 | 10 |
| RFC1483 describes how multiple protocols can be encapsulated over AAL5.
DIGITAL UNIX complies with RFC1483 for the relevant protocols we
support. At the moment that is only Classical IP (RFC1577).
(LAN Emulation uses IEEE 803.x style encapsulations).
If you want to run something other than IP directly over AAL5, then you
would have to write a kernel module to implement the protocol.

916.2 | connection to Cisco | LNZALI::LNZPWO::PISWANGER | | Wed Apr 23 1997 03:38 | 15 |
| The Customer wants to make an IP Connection over the ATM CArd to an Cisco 7000
Router.
The Setup for The Cisco is AAL5 + MUX
The Setup for The ATMworks is AAL5 + SNAP
IF the Setup for the Cisco is also AAL5 + SNAP the Connection is ok, but it must
be AAL5 + MUX.
Is there a possibility to change the Setup for the ATMworks 350 also to AAL5 +
Mux.
Regards
Wolfgang

916.3 | Only LLC/SNAP supported | SMURF::GREBUS | DTN 381-1426 - Digital Unix | Wed Apr 23 1997 14:44 | 7 |
| We only support the required encapsulation for RFC1577, which is
LLC/SNAP.
Out of curiosity, are you trying to do this over an SVC or PVC?
