879.0. "Help installing a ATM350" by CSC32::cxoras9.cxo.dec.com::Goodwin (Brad Goodwin - NSIS) Mon Mar 24 1997 09:32

Hi,

Does anyone know how to install a ATM350 on an existing d-unix V4.0b in a
2100? The ATM350 is in slot PCI2. I'm trying to figure out the correct
commands to use in the config file for the system. When I do a console "show
config" from the console, I see a ATM350 card as follows:

Slot Hose 0, Bus 2, PCI
  0				Digital ATM350

Also, for the real slot the ATM350 is in, it shows:

Slot Hose 0, Bus 0, PCI
 7 DECchip 21050-AA	Bridge to PCI Bus 2

Also, the ATM350 does not show up with the console "show device" command. The
console code for the 2100 is V4.6.

In the system conf file, we have tried various commands to get the lta0 device
configured but have failed. Can anyone give me a hint as to what to put in the
conf file. I sure can't find it documented anywhere.

Thanks,
Brad

879.1Doconfig?SMURF::GREBUSDTN 381-1426 - Digital UnixMon Mar 24 1997 13:3218
    Boot the generic kernel and run doconfig. It knows how to build a
    correct config file.

    The ATMworks 350 and 750 are implemented using a PCI-PCI bridge chip as
    their PCI interface, so they appear to create an additional PCI bus.

    The config file would look something like:

    bus             pci1000    at pci0      slot  7
    controller      lta0       at pci1000   slot  0

    The "show device" command must not know about this adapter. That's not
    too surprising, since the console doesn't do anything with ATM. You
    might ask about it in the SABLE notesfile.

879.2Only ATMworks 350, not 750SMURF::GREBUSDTN 381-1426 - Digital UnixTue Mar 25 1997 13:415
    .-1 obviously only applies to the ATMworks 350, not the 750 (which
    is a Turbo channel device).
