I know LAN Emulation V2.0 is not official standard yet, but most of our competitors already have it. As stated in previous note, LES/LECS/BUS redandency becomes mandatory in a lot of RFPs. We can't offer GIGAswitch/ATM until we'll have that feature. What are our plans in this issue? Thanks, Yair

852.1 | How about LECS redundancy? | NPSS::NEWTON | Thomas Newton | Wed Mar 05 1997 07:22 | 11 |
The next major baseline we ship - Version 2.5 - will not have support for LAN Emulation v2.0. It will support the ILMI Service Registry MIB. This will let you set up each switch to advertise both the address of its own LECS and the addresses of all the other LECSes. If you then manually replicate the ELAN database among all the LECSes, this will give you a form of redundancy. I don't know enough about our plans for Version 3.0 to give you an indication about it. | |||||

V2.5 - April 1997 should have Redundant LANE servers based on LANE V1 (so it's proprietary like any other implementation of our competition) |
