DNS? a black art I understand!!
I don't think you need accounts or anything, just throw the mail
up in the air and it mysteriously gets sent!. (I read about MX
records in dns, but gave up after the first paragraph)
I rarely use mail from linux, just the odd emergency message sent
to my all-in-1 account (exchange works too) - it did get embarassing
once when I tried to send something to my own (external) address, dns
seems to provide the mail server of the remote system and linux failed
to send it beyond the firewall.
All this just wanting to read my inbox..
