| The bottom line is that if your mods are going to leave holes in the
car when they are removed then the lease co. are not going to be happy
about it.
Re tuning mods this is a no-no for insurance and warranty reasons
although I know of a few people who have chipped RS turbos in the good
ol' days :-).

Ha, ha! Very funny. It 200bhp was said in jest.
But some where near that figure may be achievable if you went to the
right chipping and turbo specialist, it is a 2.0 16v engine.
I recently read a review in the car magazine MAX POWER about an Escort,
RS turbo (I think) that had been modifed that was developing some thing
along the lines of 200bhp.
Sadly though, because my Astra is a company car those sort of mods
won't be able to be performed. Plus I don't have the money anyway.
Cheers,
Al.

Without a doubt.
But, I bet there is a fair percentage of people who don't declare it.
Too risky if you ask me.

2545.8 | Towbar | CHEFS::CURRIEI | The sun doesn't set...the horizon rises! | Fri Sep 06 1996 17:34 | 7 |
| Based on my experience of a few years ago, you are allowed to fit a
towbar if you get permission from the lease company (it was Hertz at
the time) - presumably on the basis that it will add to the resale
value of the car.

| PHH used to give permission to fit towbars to lease cars on the
condition that they were removed before the car was returned.
Won't fitting a mobile phone car kit leave as many holes as a CD
player?

2545.10 | towbars... methinks less value.... | WOTVAX::HATTONM | Waiting for JS to offer me a drive... | Wed Sep 11 1996 08:57 | 9 |
| re -2..
Don't see how fitting a towbar increases the sale value of a used car
as it increases more load/wear and tear on a cars components !!
As well as being a liability when in use %*))))
