| I noticed that the cars in the bottom 10 included most of the top
selling models, while the top 10 were slightly more obscure. I would
hazard a guess that the cars in the top 10 were bought by people who
had thought more carefully about their purchase and chosen that
car because it fitted their needs. Thus they give it good marks in the
survey.
The cars in the bottom 10 would have included many drivers who had
either not thought so carefully about why they were buying that car, or
fleet drivers who are not driving a car they would choose to buy
themselves. Therefore they are less likely to be satisfied with it.
just a thought,

| Sort of cross referencing my other note, I expect that the cars in the top 10
do a far lower mileage than those in the bottom 10. Just to reiterate, I'd
like to see some facts'n'figures about the sort of people who tend to buy the
cars in question (ie Vauxhalls are more common fleet vehicles and do loads of
miles, Toyotas are often bought by older people who may not have any business
mileage - these are my assumptions, but don't bite my head off!)
Personally, I'm quite happy with my Calibra, no complaints so far; but, then,
I've only done 9,000 miles in the last year (nearly all business, before
anyone asks)

| Here, hang on a minute,
Its not for us, the consumer, to get defensive about the results,
and suggest reasons why Vauxhall and Ford didnt fare well.
We should be asking the car manufacturers what are THEY going
to do about their poor ratings?

Don't know about that - if you read the notes files in here regarding
Vauxhalls you get the same impression - when I became eligible for the
car scheme it was the writings in here that persuaded me to buy my own
car and stay away from the scheme.
Still could be worse - the scheme could give you Fiats instead.

| re.6:
This could have been a mistake...I am a critic of Vauxhall in here and I'm on my
fifth in a row. My wife also has a Vauxhall. On the whole they are reasonably
priced, cheap to run, reliable, and do the biz. As for dealers, I stick to the
smaller companies - you get personal service.

... but since Ford and Vauxhall don't participate in this conference it
wouldn't make much of a topic.
People *do* get defensive about their choice of car. People also love
telling other people why they've bought the wrong car.
cheers,
