The original intention (I think) was to allow Digital drivers
to get quotes interactively from Leaseplan's database on their IBM AS400.
I believe that other Leaseplan customers have this option.
I seem to remember that there were problems getting an
'auto-login' to work to the AS400 which is probably why the service
is only available to those with accounts on the AS400. There were
also some issues around keyboard mapping.
For the techies, the link is achieved via Peer Server
software running on an Alpha in REO with a 64K circuit to the AS400
in Windsor.

Ian

$ tn3270/port=2301 16.36.32.7
(if you're on VMS, you'll need UCX of course).
Now where do we get the username / password?

2477.6 | I have used LPDIRECT - great tool! | CHEFS::absip23.reo.dec.com::geddesi | Iain Graham Geddes | Tue Dec 05 1995 14:02 | 28 |
| Miracles, I have used the system - even from a Sales Workbench laptop from
home!!
From BA in ALL-IN-1 select LPLAN.
User is Digital, password is LPDIRECT
NB Must use ENTER not CR, with a laptop use ALT/CR!
Enter your personal details as requested
1 to view Voxils, and 2 for others (Audi to Volvo)
Use tab to move through or enter name/part name ie Volk or Volkwagen, and
then same for model Gol or Golf. Use 4 to move back and 5 to move forward -
doesn't work on laptop - anyone know the key mapping??
This is very useful and interesting database - some prices not too bad,
others are well.....
Also prices seem to change at least weekly, so beware!
Any probs talk to Richard Jenkins at Leaseplan via 830-8066, or call Phyllis
Wiggins@reo 830-1268....
I'll probably have this note deleted now......

Anyone out there in this catagory that could help by viewing and

expensive , but I have noticed some new quotes for the New Rover 200 dont

The problem Royston (as I believe you've now discovered) is that
there are so many. I've put some in note 2290, but it is a time
consuming business - and would take considerably longer if you were
to include all the options for each car.

I think you've missed John's point. The password that expired
is the one from the LOGON screen, the one that was previously
LPDIRECT. For a time this morning you had to use CARQUOTE, but
I see they've changed it back again now.
