| VANGA has a h/w� fault - it keeps crashing. It's not fixed but it is up at the
moment but I can't say for how long. FS can't attend until at least monday :-(

It worked for about 15 mins first thing this morning, then disappeared
altogether. Now the mchine seems to be back, but the notes file isn't.

| I don't know what you're on about - VANGA has been up and running and not mucked
about with for over 19 days! Seriously though folks - it's a mystery to me, some
people seem to be having problems, whilst others are not. I have no idea how to
begin diagnosing this - perhaps a re-boot first thing tomorrow is called for?

Well to start with, what is your DECnet address? There is no
doubt that from UVO the node we see as 44.551 does not have a
NOTES object. Possibilities: DNS screwed. Duplicate node
address on network.

The network object really was unknown! My first thoughts were that this wasn't
it because plenty of people were able to access notes on VANGA. But it seems
that after the "Notes" object deleted itself from the NCP database (how did that
happen?!) notes servers that were still running carried on serving the selected
few.
