2403.0. "Sandblasting/Stove enamelling specialists" by CHEFS::NAYLORG () Wed Apr 26 1995 16:09

    Hi,

I am looking for a company in the Basingtoke/Reading area that offers a
sandblasting, stove enamelling etc. service which must be able to cope
with items up to the size of a rear axle.

I am currently rebuilding a 1967 MGB Roadster and would like to use a
recommended source for this type of work. Also any other specialists
in the area (i.e. Autoelectricians, interior) would be of interest.

Please reply either here or directly to me Graham Naylor @REO.

    Thanks in advance

    Graham

I have used cox & sons. They used to be at Hartley Whitney but have now
moved to somewhere near Dec park. They have done motorcyle frames etc
for me and were very good, this included stove enamelling. Price
depends on the finish but they will do upto concours.

    regards John

Have you considered powder coating. Its alot more robust then
    enamelling.

    Hi,

Just in case anyone is still interseted in this note.

I have found a company in Basingstoke called M&S Stove Enammeling who
can provide a finish known as Keyfoss, aparently this is tougher than
Powder Coating but isn't quite a shiny. The finsh aparently is less
than the thickness of a human hair but is "tough as hell" and is used
by many of the racing car companies such as MacLaren and Benetton.

This sounds ideal for items such as axles and suspension units but
unforunately it isn't very cheap, approx. 85 for a rear axle casing.

Once I have had some bits done I will let you know how good it is.

    Regards

    Graham

    Hi,

At last I have finally had the first parts coated with Keyfoss, turn
around was within a couple of days and the finish was excellent.

    Regards

    Graham

PS. If karen Clarke is still reading this please could you mail me
(Graham Naylor @REO), I have lost your mail address and cannot
        find it in ELF.
