Certainly you're not getting much for a 1.1 but a Honda engine? I
thought they fitted 1.1 K-series.... still, maybe the engines fitted
are different on the continent. Maybe this has something to do with it.
You could always swap the engine for a K-series and see if it gets any
better! :-)

Dan

| >>> No one at Rover here can give me an idea of what the consumption should be.
Don't they have any back-dated brochures? It's a sad state of affairs when a
dealer/manufacturer can't tell you the supposed mpg of a 2 year old car. What
about looking in the back of some motoring journals?

| Hi Geoff,
I've had a couple of metros as hire cars and have been amazed at how
thirsty they are.
I've not worked out the consumption but remember having to fill up at
about 150 miles.
If I were you I'd stick with the 18. After all it's a more recent
design than the mini ;-}

2397.4 | In Liter/100Km | ULYSSE::SPEPC1::MOULAERT | | Thu Mar 30 1995 10:20 | 17 |
| Extracted from a French Magazine L'Auto Journal Special Salon 93
Rover 111SL 4CV 1120cc 60hp @ 6000rpm
Consumption in Liter/100Km:
90 Km/h 4.4 liter
120 Km/h 6.5 liter
Town 6.9 liter
The same information one year later from L'Auto Journal Special Salon 94
90 Km/h 4.5 liter
120 Km/h 6.2 liter
Town 7.1 liter
In France, I guess the difference between '93 and '94 models is the catalytic
exhaust.
Hope this helps
Regards
Eric

Mine has never done the best out of that list. The
minumum litres per 100km I did since December was 8.3,
which is around 33mpg.
The garage I bought it from, which was Renault, changed
the air filter. I had thought that maybe Rover use
special air filters, because the whole air-intake
apparatus seems very large and long for the engine type.
Re: .3
Hi Peter. Yes, the R18 GTL is exceptional for stable
economy. My old R18 break is now in the possession of
my son who reports a steady 8-9 litres per 100km. Not
bad for a 1600cc 7cv engine.
Thanks & Regards, Geoff.

2397.6 | I forgot one filling station... | HERON::NANNIK::Robb_G | Smile on your brother, try to love one another right now! | Mon Apr 03 1995 16:24 | 11 |
| Oops, better put the record straight. I forgot one
tank filling we did on the long stretch, so the fuel
consumption isn't as bad as I thought. I worked it
out to 6.42 liters per 100kms, or about 44 mpgs.
However, the local consumption remains pretty poor;
my tank is already at half full and only done 120 kms.
Thanks anyway for the feedback.
Cheers, Geoff.

2397.7 | "local travel" consumption is not good around here | VARDAF::CHURCH | Dave Church@VBE (DTN 828-6125) | Mon Apr 03 1995 17:54 | 10 |
| Geoff,
With the Citroen AX we have the needle moves fairly quickly from full
to and then later it can go into the red before the petrol warning
light comes on!
Generally petrol consumption is pretty poor for the journey to and from
work as it's such a short distance.

| The 115SD is pretty good (6000 mile test drive). Infact I'm surprised
how much I like it. All I need now is a flat cap and a pipe.
Rover have been excellent and provided the best finance deal..
200 pounds deposit and 5 years of payments...no need for a 4 grand
deposit, three years of payment and a 4 grand balance...Not to mention
1 years free insurance and AA membership.
Chris (Well impressed)

| After 20,000 miles the 115SD is still running well.
The only problem I found was that the seals around the front lamps were
faulty. They used the wrong type of glue on the early models and the
weather affects the glue and causes the seals to come loose.
I put this note in, as I'm selling it soon (hopefully).
Cheers,
Chris
