2300.0. "Motor House" by LARVAE::DARRALL_D (Dave Darrall, SE PSC, 781-1662) Tue Aug 16 1994 21:06

Thought this justified a note of its own, but Mr Moderator please feel
    free to 'adjust'.

There is a car sales place on the A5 near Cannock (M6 J11/J12)
    called The Motor House.

The place as grown over the past few years to what is now a very large
car supermarket type of a place.

They have over a thousand nearly new cars in, they sell over 250 cars a
    week.

Most of the cars are L reg, else K and M reg(They already had M reg
    cars in !).

They advertise in National News Papers.

They were on TV a few weeks ago.

The cars are very new, few months old, mostly less than 10k miles.
Lots of cars with only a few hundred miles.
This past weekend they had a some Mazda 626GLX's in, M reg, delivery
(eg 5 miles) mileage only (still with plastic on the seats etc.) for
12999. (Olbiously Mazda have tried to get the 626 into some sales
chart thing in August.) They will have a lot of M reg cars in by the
    end of the month.

Examples of prices. Mondeo LX saloons, 8499
    			Cavalier LX 7999
    			Granda Scorpios 14999
    			Base model Fiesta, 5999
    			Metro 1.1S, 5499
    			Astra LX 7499
    			Fiat Uno 1.0 ie 4499
All L reg, low mileage, good condition, choice of colours.

It really is an amazing place.

Anybody else heard of them, been there, know of anything like it ?

It has been on TV. It was on the program that presented a biased view
of why should people buy new cars when you can get a nearly new one for
several hundred or (thousand) pounds cheaper. It was probably World In
    Action or something like that.

People in the Midlands seem to know about it. I think the idea is that
they sell a LOT of nearly new cars for a small profit margin.

My mother bought her car (via a friend, mind you!) via this cheap
system. It's a J-plate Metro GTi, just as the K plate was due to come
in. Rover had claimed it as a monthly figure, so we got it with
delivery miles on for around 8 grand. Is that a totally ridiculous
bargain or wot? Should have been upwards of 10 if I remember rightly.

Now if we can do this (albeit with a friend who 'knows', if you see
what I mean) surely the public can still gain from massive savings buy
just buying a car a few months old?

It still amazes me how many people waste money on new cars, when you
can buy one that's been run in, tested, had all the minor niggles
fixed, first service too, for LESS money?!

Hoorah for this place, I say!
