| Not really the Reading area but fairly close, Micheldever Tyres at
Micheldever Station. They've got two 50,000 machines that do it all
by lasers or infra-red.
Watch it though, last time I used them to check and adjust the front wheel
alignment of my car, some prat in a mini completely rearranged the front
suspension geometry 20 minutes after coming off the machine...........
wheels ended up 90 degrees to each other.

2296.2 | Fareham 4-wheel alignment | FORTY2::HOWELL | Just get to the point... | Mon Aug 08 1994 15:51 | 10 |
| Just for the record, and benefit of those of you in Portsmouth...
There's a place next to the station in Fareham that has all this
4-wheel alignment gubbins (can't remember name, sorry).
Price was 30-odd for a 4-wheel setup that they did within the hour.
Dan
P.S. They do all other stuff as well, ofcourse - balancing, new tyres,
repairs, etc.

| Thames Valley Tyres have a 4 wheel alignement tool. They were using on
someones escort XR3i (why bother - it'll still handle badly).
They're off the Basingstoke Road in Reading

| Well, I went to Thames Valley Tyres in the end (when I looked up where
Micheldever was, Paul, I was wondering whether I'd make it that far!)
and they fixed my slow puncture AND set the toe-in on all four of my
wheel for 16 !!!
I am well impressed, and the service was excellent too. I'm sometimes
wary of taking an unusual car with special requirements to 'just
anybody', but they were very professional.
Incidently, they didn't appear to have a 4-wheel alignment tool as I
could see it.... it was just a 2-wheel jobbie, but to do 4 wheels you
stick it on the back of the car and read toe-in as toe-out and vice
versa, simple as that.
Thanks for all the info,
Dan
P.S. My toe-in had been knocked TWO inches out from the recommended
1/16" on 2 of my tyres...! No wonder the car was getting twitchy! It
now goes round corners safely!!
