| I passed a place the other day that had a whole range, from 2,900 for
a VW Combi to 20,000 for a 'kinuge one.
Maybe if you let us know what your budget is I could take another look
and see what you would get for the money.

2280.2 | Everything is relative... | FLYWAY::WALKERN | Skiing Skippy... | Thu Jul 14 1994 14:36 | 19 |
| Hi,
Thanks for the quick response!
My aim is to sell the beast after my holiday down-under, and I should have access
to enough capital for something in the range 15k-20k (if it were really necessary).
The upper limit would start to approach what I have to pay in Australia - but I
guess it depends on quality.
btw. A VW campervan would definitely be too small - I am planning a 5-6 month
holiday with the whole family, so we will need a little space, and a few of the
"mod cons"!!
Also, what is a 'kinuge one ?
Thanx,
Nick

Nick,
Have you checked that you won't get clobbered by tax etc. because
technically you will be importing the vehicle into the country.

2280.5 | Still checking... | FLYWAY::WALKERN | Skiing Skippy... | Wed Jul 20 1994 11:23 | 9 |
| Hi Dave,
That is one of the things that I am still checking on - usually there is a time
factor built in. I beleive that if I have owned the thing for at least 6 months
I'm OK.
But, I'm still checking...

2280.6 | Motorhome prices - UK. | RDGE44::WINTERR | | Mon Aug 01 1994 09:05 | 26 |
| Sorry this is late - only come into the notesfile recently after a
pause.
All prices are pounds.
Brand new "Coachbuilt" motorhomes in the UK start at 20,000 +, with one
exception - an Italian made , lefthand drive one 16000 ish.
The "huge ones" (called A class over here) brand new are 30,000 up.
Diesels are very popular, and this is reflected in their prices
secondhand.
15000 will get you a 2 - 4 year old diesel motorvan depending on what
specification you are after.
This would be a vehicle about 17ft long, 6 and a bit ft wide, and about
9ft tall (sorry for the old units - that's what they use in the
magazine I buy).
Diesels are not that common on the used market at the moment, however,
apparently most new motorhomes I being bought with diesel engines, so
the prices whould come down when they hit the secondhand market.
If you have any particular models in mind let me know and I can look
the price up.

Don't be sorry! Be proud to be British! I always ask customers ringing
in for product dimensions, do you want them in English or Metric? They usually
laugh and ask for English please!
Malcolm.

2280.8 | Thanks. | FLYWAY::WALKERN | Skiing Skippy... | Tue Sep 27 1994 12:47 | 8 |
| Thanks for the info.
It looks as if the prices are the same if not a bit cheaper in Australia, so I
guess I'll save myself the trouble.
Regards,
Nick
