2263.3 | I have something from Ford in writing about this | VARDAF::CHURCH | Dave Church@VBE (DTN 828-6125) | Wed May 18 1994 18:19 | 6 |
| I got some feedback from Ford France about this a few weeks back. I
still have to sit down and properly read the letter again as it needed
a response to a couple of their points.
I'll bring it in with me tomorrow so I can quote what it said.

| I got some junkmail (from Ford Fleet Talkback?) trying to debunk this
one. Ford say that airbags and central locking will only operate with
the ignition on. History will tell whether they are right or the urban
myth was actually true. Stock up now on Mondeo bumpers, though.

| RE: .4
That ties in with what was written in the letter from Ford France "The
information about a swift "kick" around the "accident sensor" is false
as it works when the car is running and fortunately there are other
sensors which need to work simultameously".
Do they have any usefull information in the "Ford Fleet Talkback" mail
- if they do I would be interested in seeing them?

Ditto. I've binned mine too.
If, as mentioned here the sensor(s) work only with the ignition on,
doesn't that still pose a problem with personal security?, ie,what if
my wife is driving through a risky city area with the doors locked? and
all it takes is a wierdo with steel toecaps to open the doors....
...I'd really like to hear what Ford might have said. (If I speak to
the dealers b4 then, I'll post the info.)
Mike.
