| | I went there with Page and Moy back in 1985 - it was very well
organised by them and the meeting was great entertainment value. It was
the complete opposite to a British miles-from-anywhere circuit. The
track is more or less in the town and surrounded by a high wall. All
the locals hang home made stands round the top of the wall, which ends
up festooned with people. If you're going out onto the circuit rather
than sitting in a stand, then sitting up with the tifosi at Tosa would
be a very interesting experience all round!!!

The year I went was the first race for Johanson in a Ferrari after
they'd dismissed Arnoux. However, after a quiet start Stefan gradually
worked his way up to first just before the end after Senna ran out of
fuel. The crowd near me simply flattened the debris fence to get near
the track but next time past he was crawling and out of fuel too. Let's
say that Prost's win wasn't very warmly applauded. As it turned out Prost
was later disqualified because the dry McLaren was just underweight and
so de Angelis got the win.
