2219.0. "2 Days insurance abroad" by SUBURB::FIXEDASSETS () Fri Feb 04 1994 16:31

    Another insurance problem

    I am going to buy a car for a friend of mine in Holland. He has asked
    me to drive it over for him. I have asked my current insurers whether
    they will insure me for the trip. Because I am on a limited mileage
    policy they refused.

    Does anyone knows an insurer that will cover me for this trip, which
    will be for 2 days only, third party if necessary. I will need cover in
    Holland.

    Cheers

    Derek

    try Adrian S Flux. I dont know where they are, but they are an agent
    for obscure policies.

2219.2Sorry it doesn't help with your problem, but ....CMOTEC::POWELLNostalgia isn't what it used to be, is it?Mon Feb 07 1994 13:356
I discovered over the weekend, whilst looking again at the documentation for
my new Xantia, that Citren Assist which comes with the new car, gives full
AA 5 Star style cover on the Continong. I'm glad I bought the extension
for three years 8-)))

    My current limited mileage policy is with.........

    Adrian Flux.

    Obscure policy indeed!

    Thanks for the suggestion though.

    My friend in Holland has been able to arrange the insurance. He has
    insured a foreign vehicle, to be driven by someone with a U.K.
    driving license, from the U.K. to Holland.

    I have not been able to insure this journey.

    It tells you something about the U.K. insurance companies I think.

    Is it because we are a higher risk or some of us are and everybody
    pays?

    Car crime in Holland is by what I know no less than here.

    What is the solution to this problem? Suggestions
2219.5Just insure it...CMOTEC::JASPERStuck on the Flypaper of LifeFri Feb 11 1994 12:487
    Some certificates are worded " Any car owned by the Insured" & they
    then give you 7 days to notify them. It shouldnt take 7 days to drive
    to Holland. Otherwise, I guess you'll have to get the cheapest n month
    policy you can find, it should still be cheaper than trailering the
    car.
