There was still the delays in delivery and i.e your delivery date comes and
goes.
There was still the waste of time and resources with current quotes not being
displayed for all to see.
The PCL list should have been update to reflect the current models i.e
Delete Sierra
Add Mondeo
Perhaps the PCL should have included more of what was being asked for by quotes.

| I vote no.
Just look at what's happened over the last few days.
Written info telling us the car stuff IS ON VTX.
Check VTX, and it says it will be there EARLY July
Check VTX a few days later, and it says MID July.
Three different dates in three days, in addition to the management info
given to my manager, who said we would know on July 1st.
I wouldn't trust them to organise the proverbial drink-up in a brewery.
The beer would go off before we got there.

| This is not about what "they" have or haven't done. Its about whether a
certain manager improved the timescales and efficiency of the way the
quotes were processed over recent months. By all accounts things
improved dramatically after Doug mentioned he'd look into it.

2113.13 | Definitely a no vote. | SUBURB::MCDONALDA | Shockwave Rider | Fri Jul 02 1993 13:49 | 18 |
| Firstly there was the arbitary rule imposed on us without any form of
consultation not to allow any quote for a car on the prefered list
with simple/cheap dealer fitted options. The disgusting thing about this
decision is that two quotes are still required for cars from the prefered
list. Further I don't understand why this restriction was not removed
once the quotes backlog was cleared up and when the new car scheme has
been known by fleet for sometime as you don't produce the glossies or
organise the documentation or vendor overnight.
Yet again, I have received no notification of my lease renewal date;
should have been sent to my account two months ago.
I have yet to be informed of a need for an MOT, yet this requirement is
clearly laid out in the procedures.
AND I still HAVEN'T got details of the new car scheme.

2113.14 | YES | MILE::JENKINS | Suitably refreshed | Fri Jul 02 1993 13:56 | 28 |

The service I've received from Car Fleet has been excellent. In
the last six months I've returned an over mileage car, taken a
short term lease takeover and quoted and ordered a new car.
The people who've dealt with me (Sally, Lucy) have been friendly
and helpful. I've always been kept informed of progress. When one
of the quotes I submitted could not be processed immediately, I
was told there would be a delay and told why.
Overall, there seems to me to be no comparison between the supposed
shambles that existed last year and their recent performance.
In defence of Car Fleet and in response to the criticism expressed
earlier in this topic, I always thought the preferred list was
a stupid idea. It would have been a nightmare trying to keep it
up to date no matter who was running the show. Think of all the
new models, model changes, special editions and equipment upgrades
that have been made over the last year!
The current debacle isn't IMO the fault of Car Fleet. It's yet
another communications failure. I've no doubt that Car Fleet are
as much in the dark about the new scheme as we are.
I'd be interested to know if Car Fleet were consulted about the changes
to the lease scheme.
Richard.

| Yes - my new car arrived on the day it should have (first working day after end
of the lease of the old one).
No - a second order was in place for my car (if I hadn't had to call Car Fleet
about something else I would have had a second car delivered).
Second thoughts - could I have kept both of them ? :^)

Why no?
The question put to the vote was "Has the car scheme improved?"
A No! On 30th June there was no car scheme, so it could not be
better than on 21-Jan-1993 (or maybe it was !!?? :-) )
Why does Doug deserve the drink anyway
A because the level of service from the car fleet people rose
significantly. (why not buy them a drink too..... & 6 straws)
Chris......

replaced on 7th July, but extended the lease until his return to the

new prices had been placed on VTX as promised.

Doug, as people are starved of data, could you either post here or on VTX
some sample prices? For example, the most popular models, with or
without options? You must have some available by now...
For example, the "standard company car" (Cavalier 1.6 LS?) and the
standard level 8/9 car (Cavalier SRi?) would be of extreme interest...

What do you mean "we have lots of prices to get"? What do we pay these
fleet management companies for? Surely GM gave us the prices during the
negotiations or did GM just sign a cheque for 5 million?

have a personal interest (to share with my team you understand as I am
not a big beer drinker) in the voting. At my last count, I was in with
8 Yes's to 3 Noes.
Could we keep discussion of the new scheme in the earlier note (2100)
please. This saves me hopping about on that subject and helps me to
understand what needs clarifying about the new scheme.
At the appropriate time and through the right media those concerns can
be addressed.

I ended my cavalier and took over a calibra.
Plus side - everyone was very pleasant.
minus side - the people don't seem to talk to each other.
"awkward" I ask for a takeover and it's gone. Ask what's
left and the answer was "I'm too busy to tell you wait for the list"
The Calibra was handed over with (IMHO) dangerously underinflated
tyres. etc
I have to say that the impression I got was things were getting better
later in the year. But now we've changed everything.

counted.
There was a last minute flurry of "no"s, not, i hasten to add, in any
way instigated by me! Despite this, the end result remains unchanged
from that in .30, thus the final outcome is ...
Yes = 9 votes
No = 8 votes
... a close race which could have gone either way, especially when
.34 and .35 couldn't decide!
So, it is my proud duty to announce that in the minds of the members
of CARS_UK, Doug Arnold has managed to "get this whole mess sorted out",
and is therefore entitled to have a very serious hangover paid for by me.
At this moment in time i guess that he is somewhere between Reading and
Birmingham, and when he walks through the door of BBP, his beer will be
