| I think this is the Subaru Impreza.
Are you sure it wass a 1.6?, I read somewhere that it was a 1.8L 16
Valve motor with the 2.0L Turbo motor coming later.

Yep I can vouch for the Legacy 4WD Turbo Estate!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got totally embarrased by one coming off the town centre roundabout
in Basingstoke last January.
Luckily I knew what I was up against and wasn't trying that hard (it
was icy and my tyres were due to be replaced that afternoon) but by the
time I'd hit the straight he was a blur on the horizon. (he'd started
to floor it as he hit the corner, pretty brave considering the road
conditions)

Yup, the one I saw was a 1.6, I couldn't get any more info because
the bloke was a stand-in, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are
other variants.
It was a lovely blue colour!

Has anybody got any info on the Subaru 3.3? I saw a small
add for it the other day that gave the spec as follows:
3.3L, Twin Turbo developing 230BHP
Perm 4WD
ABS
The old Intregale is getting a bit expensive now and this
looks like it could be a suitable replacement.

>> Has anybody got any info on the Subaru 3.3?
You don't mean that space age looking thing do you??
If you do, I don't think it's much of an Integrale competitor. The
reports I've read have all concluded it's more of a Grand Tourer
(mainly because of its weight). I saw one 'in the flesh', and I think it's
pretty ugly too - it does turn heads though.
What turned my head more though, was a bright BLUE Integrale Evoluzione 3
I saw at the weekend.

I think the 3.3 twin turbo is known as the SVX.I followed one the other
morning on the way to work, it goes! I like the shape and the glass
rear pillars(good vision all round),but there again I drive a Corsa. ;-)

The guy across the hall from me has an SVX...He really likes it. Great
highway car. I like it too but I bought an XJ-12 VDP at the time that
he bought the SVX.

| Jeez, you guys in Calgary must be on good money, I can only dream about earning
enough to get an SVX!! ;-)
To kind of answer the base note. The Legacy RS would surely be a possible
replacement for an Integrale or even an Impreza 555. You may however need to
import one from Japan!! Don't laugh, I knew someone who did just that to get a
decent homologation special and it wasn't that expensive 5 years ago though you
would probably have to put up with right hand drive. Prodrive will sell you a
VERY potent car too.

Well.....we got kind of a good deal. A bunch of us were involved in an
outsourcing deal that involved a severance from the company that signed
the contract with DEC. As a result, we had a job, got a severance and
then started wotking for DEC right away. Some guys (ones with a bunch
of years) got severances in the six-digit range. THAT would have been
nice.

2066.15 | Impreza Turbo? | BAHTAT::HILTON | Beer...now there's a temporary solution | Wed Jun 14 1995 18:05 | 16 |
| Anyone drive a Subaru Impreza 4wd Turbo? I just saw an add for it, and
it looks quite nice, with good performance.
List price 17999 for 4 dr, 18499 for 5 dr. 0-60 5.3 secs, max speed 137
mph.
The advert I saw if for ProDrive, who do various add-on to it, ie
leather interior, sports suspension etc etc.
According to the add, Autocar descrive the car in standard form as
"quite possibly the performance buy of the decade". And experience of
the Prodrive version made them comment "Prodrive opens up new levels of
handling for road-going Impreza Turbo drivers."

already!
;-)
Seriously, though, I'd imagine they're pretty nice cars... they do
allright in the rallies! I've driven past ProDrive more times than I
care to remember - they're based just off the M40, somewhere northwest
of J9 I think...? or J11.... umm..
Cheers,
Dan

Bought Autocar yesterday (don't laugh) and after 20,000 miles they
couldn't fault it. I've been trying to arrange a drive since last
year, but haven't got round to it yet.
Amazing car for the cash as long as you don't mind the bland interior
(maybe bland isn't the word, how about "dull").

| I can't comment for the XT coupe, however I had an SVX coupe, it was
a superb car, however the price of parts for servicing and repair make
BMW's look cheap!
I would have another, perhaps when I win the lottery!

| Thanks Richard,
I think that maybe teh comparison between XT and SVX is somewhat akin
to Fiesta Supersport and Escort Cossie. At least, I hope the XT parts
are priced at the Fiesta end!!
