| One of the things we are aware of as totally inadequate is the Driver
pack you receive with a lease car. We are working on a complete
overhaul of driver communications and this will include revising the
agreement between the driver and Digital (which is currently part of
the driver pack), driver guidelines and the way these are
presented to you.

The cavalier will be selling for 1,800 less than an equivilent Mondeo,
so when you get those car quotes, remember the list price of the car
counts for tax with the new budget.
Should quotes have list price on them as well as lease cost?

Out of interest what did Hertz have to do with it ? I thought that this
sort of thing would have to be paid for by Digital. I've heard that
some people have had problems claiming for wheel trims because they are
expensive and keep falling off anyway (particularly Cavaliers).

| re .687;
I had a trim fall off my BX a few months back, as I was pulling out of
my drive. I picked it up, and saw that a couple of the "clips" had broken
off.
When I asked for it to be replaced, the garage told me that PHH wouldn't
pay. I got PHH to call me, and after a discussion that went along
the lines of:
PHH: we won't replace it, it must be driver abuse.
Me: How can it be, I never take the trims off - only garages do it on lease
cars.
PHH: But Digital won't pay for driver abuse items.
Me: But it isn't driver abuse.... I don't care; if you want a "complete"
car back, you pay for it, otherwise leave it off.
PHH: wait a minute.........
PHH: OK, we'll pay.
Mind you, the previous trim that fell off on the M27 when my wife was
driving it was replaced at my CC manager's expense.

This just happened to me. My electric aerial ceased to go up and down.
PHH refused to replace it - said it was driver abuse - now the whole point
about an electric aerial is that you never have to touch it !
CC eventually paid for the replacement.

| It looks like the lease companies are doing everything possible to
avoid paying.
My PHH Astra developed a leak in the radiator. PHH refused to pay
because the garage conceded that it *may* have been stone damage, ie
not covered.
The leak was in a top corner in an area well protected by the
surrounding bodywork, and there was NO visible impact damage.
I informed Fleet that I did not think that the problem could have
been caused by stone damage, but they agreed to pay without further
investigation. I tried to save DEC the cost of a new radiator, but
Fleet did not appear to be concerned.

This is a pet hate of mine so I'll just get this off my chest!
If a stone cracks a headlight or radiator or W.H.Y. how can that be
driver abuse ....suppose we should all ensure we don't drive into the
path of oncoming stones! If its not abuse then it must be one of two
things...either accident damage...or....routine cost of ownership ie.
face facts if you're going to drive a car on the road you have to
accept that an odd stone is going to hit it.
Now if it's routine cost of ownership then hertz/phh should pay and if
it's not then it must be accident damage, this means that every stone
damaged headlamp, radiator, OR PAINT CHIP should be covered by an
accident report form, together with full details of exactly where and
when it happened, and third party information like who owned the stone,
who's control it was in at the time, and details of damage to the
stone, now being a special constable I can tell you that if you can't
locate the owner of the object that was in collision with your vehicle
then the accident must be reported to the Police within 24 hours, now I
don't think the police would take it too seriously if you tried to
report an accident between your vehicle and an unidentified stone, do
you!
This all hopefully points to the fact that a stone chip is not an
accident it is a normal runnining cost of owning a car! and therefore
should be covered by the lease co....after all they wouldn't refuse to
take back a car with a stone chip on the bonnet on the grounds of
accident damage would they......or do you know better 8*].
Thankyou for letting me get that off my chest I feel a whole lot better
now!

| Well i have just had my headlamp unit replaced due to stone damage
(at a cost of 84-91) and did what i was told and claimed the amount
on my expenses.
My notification has just come through, and it appears that they have
subtracted the cost of the lamp from my claim. Maybe this is a new
policy in which NEITHER Hertz/PHH or Digital pick up the tab.

Martin,
You will get your money back, its just that expenses pass the claim for
car bits onto the Insurance dept who then pay you.
This happened to me a few months back when I had to replcae the number
plate light housing on my car.

P.S. It took about an extra week for the money to come through

Martin, you shouldn't have claimed this on your expenses - it should have
been done through insurance, with an accident form, and an expenses form
to them.
You are lucky(!) that the whole expense wasn't just bounced...
Peter.
P.S., as an earlier note said, don't forget to get a statement from the
stone. "Ouch" may not be enough....

for test drives of Vauxhalls.
How does this work? Seeing as my nearest dealer is 50 odd miles away,

Or should I just nip down my local garage like I've always done :^)

I rang 0905 726767. That's the number for demo control. They then sort
it out for you. I tried a Calibra (for 2.5 days) and a Frontera (for
3.5 days inc weekend). I didn't even have to pay for petrol, as they
supply a fullish tank and don't expect you to fill it up! (This only
lasted for about 2 minutes in the Frontera :-) )
