2020.0. "News for FIERO fans and DIY commuters" by UTROP1::BOSMAN_P () Mon Feb 15 1993 09:39

Bought one this week-end for my wife.

A recently imported '85 4-cil/5sp. Certainly no bahnburner but a nice
clean original car with a reasonably low mileage.
Silver-grey metalic with tastefull two-tone grey interior. No
spoilers(well chosen name) or other "american" nasties in sight.
Sensible option like the removeble sunroof, extensive alarm etc.
Only exterior options are a neat luggage provision at the back and a set of
pristine alloy wheels with wide, low-profile tires.

It's a well-cared for car with not a blemish in- or outside. It came
    with all booklets/mauals.

Payed 4.000 pounds for it including a full year warranty on
    running gear.

The car-world GREATLY misjudged this car. Perhaps Pontiac themselves
are to blame. THIS IS NOT A SPORTSCAR. It was intended to be a car for
the commuter that has some pride and joy in driving.
Come to think of it this is what it is. It's nice looking and
comfortable. The standard 2.5 is torqy and reliable whlist returning
    35-45 mpg!
They should never have fitted the V6 or made the fastback shape. The
INDY pacecar introduction put everybody on the wrong foor too. Look at
the X1/9, this is considered an all-time classic yet it had over
    12.5 kilo's per hp!
The one I bought looks nicer and cleaner than a 924/944 and is a lot
better suited for commuting through dense traffic. No it does't pull
rubber stripes, yes it rubs off all speed when cornering REALY fast but
is safe and the four disc realy stop it.

From DIY perspective this is an ideal car. You can realy Do It Yourself
on this one as for normal servising you can do with Hallfords' smallest
    tool-roll.
Documentation is avialable as are engine parts.
    No rust problems either.

If anyone out there would like to enjoy his traffic-jam a little more
nd save on expenses, this is definitely it.
Some very nice ones are avialable at very reasonable prices over here.
