    I'm currently looking to buy a secondhand 5 series, around 86/87 either
    a 520 or 525.  
    
    Can anyone give me an idea as to what to look out for (Known
    mechanical/body shortcomings) ?
    
    How many clocked miles would be reasonable (80K ish)? 
    
    What are maintenance costs likely to be ?
    
    How much should I be prepared to pay ?
