1975.0. "AA or RAC information number" by YUPPY::RAVEN () Mon Jan 04 1993 15:07

Does anyone have a number for either the AA or RAC . I need to get info on
the roadworks on the M25 between the M40 and M4.

Does anyone know if the roadworks will be of a night only ?

These roadworks are part of the 1 year project to widen the road at this
section . If one teams this up with the North Circular road works taking place
at the moment .

                            Thanks
                             Kevin

P.S. Does anyone know of rat run that leaves the M4 between Junction 13 and
the M25 junction and joins the M25 just after the M40 intersection ?

It is possible to leave the M4 at J8/9 (Windsor & Maidenhead), scoot up
the dual-carriageway to the M40 at Wycombe and then along to the M25
from there. Now the junction is completed between the Thicket
roundabout (A4) and Burchetts Green, this makes a good alternative.

Almost certainly not. Guess where I travel to/from work every day! :-)

This a.m. nothing had started but I'll be having a close look at the
TravelMaster each time before I get there. Failing that, I'd suggest
that the travel news on Capital, GLR & LBC will be worth listening out
    for.

    Today's update:-

The northbound offside lane was closed between the exit & entry
slip-roads at the M4 junction. Traffic was coming to a crawl/standstill
at the start but was quickly moving normally again once past the area
of work. (The normal thing of anything out of the usual causing people
to slow down and have a look.)

RE: .1

The dual carriageway from J8/9 of the M4 to J4 of the M40 has always been very
busy. This was the reason for the new section of the dual carriageway passing
through Maidenhead Thicket. Unfortunately the opening of this new section has
attracted a lot more traffic to this area making it even more busy.

Over the last couple of days there has been even more traffic, which I have put
down to the M25/M4/M40 mess. I would stay away if I was you. It's not the
journey along the dual carriageway that's the problem but the very long queues
at both ends during the morning an evening rush hours.

Cheers

I tried the M4 -- Dual Carriage way -- M40 -- M25 , last night and the
journey wasn't to bad . The fog did slow things down a little bit , and the
junction onto the M40 was busy.
