1953.0. "BMW 730i question" by DECALP::ANDERS (Vertical Learning Curve) Tue Nov 17 1992 17:17
Bought a BMW 730i last week, May '87 (first of the new shape), its got
about 55 thou miles and I'm very happy with it, just one thing bothers
me though - the steering seems too dead around the centre position. Not
much, didn't really notice it at first. Its not worn or loose or heavy,
just that the steering wheel doesn't come back to dead centre.
It returns to about 10-20 degrees (of the wheel) from either side -
this makes cruisin' just a bit more tedious than it should 'cos it
needs more conscious correction than my old SAAB did.
I thought its the castor/camber that controls this (toe-in too?). Or
maybe they are all like that. Time for an alignment check?
Steve.
