1947.0. "DISCOVERY QUESTION" by CHEFS::BROWNG1 () Sun Nov 08 1992 16:59

    For your information, I have just received the following quote
    for a LandRover Discovery TDI. With twin sun roofs, ladder,
    back step, roof rack etc the driver price is: #3662.
    The quote expires on 18th November.

    Can anyone with a Discovery tell me whether the 2.5 litre
    diesel engine will take me into the higher tax bracket?
    - I suspect it will but still Barbour dreams of green wellies!
    Also, if the leasing price is based on residual values why
    does the Discovery price seem proportionally high compared
    to the Espace RXE or the Previa.

    Cheers!

    I haven't got a discovery But...

    You will get into the higher tax bracket, since you're over 2001 CC

    This is one reason an overview of the C.C. tax is underway, and rumored
    to be favouring tax bands based on a vehicle's value when new.

    Why do you think there are so many sub-2.0 litre turbo diesel cars?

    Huw.

    Hi,

    The other reply is correct, I do drive a discovery and just put in a

    it have any other extras ??

    Regards.. Steve Hepworth @OLO, not using my account at this time.

1947.3Why the costs are highLARVAE::SMART_AResists anything except temptation!Wed Nov 18 1992 19:1411
    Land Rover nut just spotted this note.....

    One of the reasons the lease cost is relatively high is because of the
    high servicing costs. A 12,000 mile service is about 300 as oils in
    both gearbox and transfer box and both axles are changed. Also the
    engine holds about ten litres of high spec turbo diesel oil (5ltr at
    11 a go) and the air filter is about 31!!!

    Swap it - never!

    I am considering a TDi when my current car is due to be replaced.
    However I as a high business mileage driver I am not sure I can live
    with the speed (or lack of it!) on long journeys.

    I have a perfect opportunity for "testing" this on my holiday in
    France/Italy in August ..... but just lack the viechle!

    Anybody with a 5 door Tdi want to swap for a SAAB 9000 CDE Turbo for a
    few weeks in August?
