1905.0. "Car Polish ..." by AEOEN2::MATTHEWS (M&M Enterprises, the CATCH 22) Mon Oct 05 1992 12:19

Just a quick note about car polish ...

I bought some of this "space age polymer" polish (Auri). It's supposed to
be possible to polish the car "bumper to bumper" in 20 minutes !!!

Well, it works. And in 20 minutes I could probably clean 2 cars !!! The
result is really good too.

As for long term usage, who knows, but so far I'm well impressed.

    I've seen both the Colorcote 2000 and Auri demonstrated
    on the TV. Both products seemed impressive to say the
    least.

    I'll be purchasing in the next couple of weeks.

    I've heard some nasty rumours that the teflon based ones (Auri i think
    is one!) damage your paintwork in the long-run. Not sure how valide
    claims they are though... hopefully it'll be a load of ballony... let
    us know?

1905.3look in the US CARBUFFS notesfileBEAVER::MCKEATINGWed Oct 07 1992 11:4115
The US notesfile CARBUFFS has a lot of notes on polish including AURI,

see DLOACT::CARBUFFS

personally I prefer Autoglym to Turtle Wax & Liquid Diamond but have not tried
AURI.

You can polish a car from start to finish in 20 Mins as long as it's
relatively clean but I'd like to see it really clean a car that is covered in
tar spots and road grime in 20 Mins!,... But then it all comes down to how clean
is CLEAN?

Hit KP 7 to add CARBUFFS to your folder,

Bob

If you use Auri on a dry cloth, it removed tar spots no problem.
As for cleaning a really dirty car, all I did was pressure wash
mine, and then use the Arui on a damp cloth. It easily removed
the remaining road dirt.

This is what really surprised me. I was suspecting that I would
need to at least T-cut it before applying the polish, but there
was no need.

I'm not a fanatic for car cleaning ... once a year is more than
enough. I'm hoping that with this polish, a pressure wash once a
month should be all that's needed to keep it looking reasonable.

The other reason for trying this polish is that the weather conditions
here in Annecy in winter is really hard on cars. There is a lot of
snow, the roads are salted etc etc. If this stuff protects the paint
against that, great. Only time will tell ...
1905.5Colour Polishes. (moved from 2104 by mod cbh)SUBURB::BENNETTWFri Jun 18 1993 11:5318
    I can't find any topics relating to this, if there are, can somebody
    point me to it!

    Has anyone out there used any of the new coloured polishes available.

    I know Turtle Wax have a product called Colour Magic and I`ve heard
    there are others but haven't seen any around.

    Are the products any good?

    Which one is best/worst?

    Which is best price wise? I have seen Colour Magic for 5.99 (normally
    8.99)

    All replies appreciated.

1905.6Lots of elbow power... But V. Good.KERNEL::SCHOFIELDLFri Jun 18 1993 15:0811
    I have used the COLOUR MAGIC wax on my motorcycle (I know this is the
    cars_uk conference but its still paint!! ;*)) and it worked like a
    dream hiding several nasty looking scratches in the lacquer on the
    tank. A couple of my friends have tried it too and it 'fixed' my pals
    faded bonnet and hid scuff marks etc on a black paint job on a Renault.
    I have yet to meet with someone who was not satisfied with the
    results. It could be the cheepest to at six pounds!

    Hope this helps

1905.7Brill on my car!!BRUMMY::MOOREFri Jun 18 1993 15:298
    I have used colour magic on a thirteen year old car that has been thru
    too many car washes and suffers from blooming on one rear panel.
    Ordinary wax did not cover either of these but color magic gave good
    results. BTW the car is dark brown.

    Cheers
