1875.0. "Classic Parts?" by NEWOA::SAXBY (Frontal Lobotomies-R-Us) Thu Aug 27 1992 13:05

    Can anyone help?

    I'm trying to get hold of some radius arm bushes for the Marcos. It
    seems that these parts are unobtainable at present, but I've now found
    that they are a part which was originally made for an early 60s Austin
    (Model unknown).

    Does anyone know of any specialist parts supplier who may stock parts
    for early 60s Austins? Telephone numbers appreciated.

    Mark

    PS Unipart are the supplier for Marcos, and they don't have any either
    at the moment...

    Re  Radius Arm Bushes

    I can't help with a source for this sort of part, but have you
    considered having some made up for you. *If* you can get an old
    one extracted without destroying it, I gather you could get new
    ones made from urethane stock with a bit of lathe work...

1875.2I couldn't find anyone who'd make them.NEWOA::SAXBYFrontal Lobotomies-R-UsThu Aug 27 1992 13:485

    Certainly the option of having some made is attractive (within
    reasonable cost constraints) but who would do such things?

    Try asking Graham Bates of G.B. Engineering (0276) 79323

    Not sure if he will be able to help, but try him anyway (mention my
    name, although it won't make any difference ;-)

    I have seen, in the past, an advert or two for companies which sell
    plain neoprene (or urethane ?) stock for bushes. If you can find
    anyone who does sell this stuff, I am sure it should be quite easy
    to get someone to do the required lathe work. You could even take
    it to a Secondary School and see if they can help. I know that my
    old metalwork teacher would have been happy do help in this sort of way.

    Hi Mark,

    Hills Rubber Co. in Reading near the main swimming pool are really
    helpful and may be able to help.

    Lotus in the early days used all sorts of parts bins to put their
    cars together and whilst you pay a premium you get them off the shelf.

    Look closely on the bush once extracted, the ones on my car turned
    out to be fairly standard issue.

     What about the owners club ??
