| Isn't this the one that is the same as a Rover 200 ?
I remember smiling when looking at a CAR long term test, they had a
photo of the "plate" under the bonnet, it said ...Built by Rover.

| The Ballade was the old shape (ugly!) Rover 200 equivalent. The new shape
is the Concerto. I know Rover make the Concerto, so I presume they also
made the Ballade.

1835.4 | A load of Ballades to me | WARNUT::RICE | A human resource | Tue Jul 21 1992 10:56 | 9 |
| OK so I meant Concerto.....
I think the Ballade was only made by Honda, there was (I think) also
some agreement that meant you didn't see many of them in the UK.
Stevie.
(What does Ballade *MEAN* anyway ?)

| Could be the French for "ballad" ... although why this should be I don't
know.

Nissan call a car a Cedric! I don't think the meaning of a name has a
lot of importance to the Japanese. They're more concerned that it
sounds 'right' for the market! People in Japan like the Englishness of
the name Cedric, but it would go down like a lead baloon in the UK!

I was always dissapointed that they didn't follow the "Laurel"
with a "Hardy".

I'm sure that I recall a bit of motoring lore which says that Nissan
were only just persuaded not to launch the 240Z in the UK as the
Nissan "Pansy"........ ;-)

| Re: .3
Do Rover really make the Concerto? I knew the deal was to match
designs, basic body style, floorpan, mechanicals, but I never heard
Rover manufactured them.
Which plant are they made at?

| The Concerto is made at Longbridge,I understand on the same line as the
Rover. The cars are then transported to Honda at Swindon for final
checks.

| No it doesn't. That's with one "L" ...
As I said a few back, with two "L"s it means balad.
