Lease car drivers. Are there any of you going away on holiday
for 2 or 3 weeks between July 3rd to the 26th/27th July ?
If you are leaving your car behind then would it be possible for
me to make use of it for my holiday up to Scotland which will be
for two weeks between the above dates ? The most likely dates are
from Friday 10th to Sunday 26th July, two weeks in total although
I'm not exactly sure as yet.
Please let me know.

Car Swap for a week in July:
I'm giving my sister and her children a lift up to Scotland on Friday
the 17th of July and I'll be spending a week or so up there before driving
back down South. Problem is my lease mobile in a MR2 whick could make
things a little cramped. Is there anyone out there with whom I could swap
cars with who doesn't mind me putting 1000+ miles on their lease mobile.
My car is the new shape T-BAR model though not the new spec, (with the
flashy wheels, fatter tyres, power steering, 3BHP less etc) If there
is anyone out there who can live with this can they either reply to this
note or drop me a line on KERNEL::MCSKEANEP
Thanks in anticipation.

P.S. The only proviso I'll make is that I'd like a non smoker in my
car.

So okay I took the Merc, as I said in my earlier reply it was the most
convenient choice for me to swap with. I'm not saying I wasn't influenced
by the fact it was a Merc, I've never driven one before and thought it
would be a good chance to drive one around for a week or so.
I've never driven a car with cruise control before (well one that worked
that is.. My Fuego had it but it refused to disconnect when you hit the
brakes!) so I thought it would be nice for the drive up to Scotland. The
MR ends up being a little tiring on the foot after 4 hrs on the throttle.
Hopefully my sisters kids will be asleep for most of the journey so the
only stop I'll need to make will be the compulsory fuel stop. Long gone
are the days in my Sierra where I could do the whole 420+ miles non stop
on one tank.
It was a choice of horses for courses, the Merc should be good for cruising
up there and comfy enough for me, my sister and the kids. The fact that
it is an auto should also help should we hit the obligatory 10 mile
tailbacks for road repairs. The MRs' clutch gets a little heavy after an
hour or so stuck in traffic.
Next time I need a swap it will be for an estate when I move house, don't
worry Chris you and your BX19TGD are top of the list.

I would like any car that can carry four adults, two children and their
holiday luggage (a 6-seater estate?).
I can offer a Rover 414 SLi saloon with Pas. Pleasant and economical.
Ideally I would need the other car on 8th Oct, and would return it on
2nd Nov. I am based in DECpark.
The car would only be used as transport to and from Gatwick, whre it
would be left in one of the long-term car parks (probably BCP), so this
is not going to add much to it's milage!!
(I've thought of all the other travel alternatives, Rail, Taxi, etc.
but this is the best choice for our situation....)

Lots of room, takes approx 34 cases of wine, with the back seats

the performance is ......missing !!. Other advantage is that pertol in
France is much more expensive than in the UK, whereas Diesel is
cheaper.

| I have an Omega Elite Estate 2.5 TD, metallic velvet green. The lease
is 2 years from Oct 94, cost c5550. Despite all the car pundits raving
about the BMW sourced diesel, it does not suit me. I only get about
30 mpg - I`m told it`s the way I drive. I`d like to swap the car for
anything that`s coming to the end of its lease so that I can get the
3 litre version. Tha car has done about 6,000 miles and is in perfect
condition. As a sweetener. I`m prepared to offer 500 pounds of
Thomas Cook vouchers, or even possibly cash if you twist my arm. Please
call Rhodri Jenkins on 830 4305 or leave message on 0860 646080.

I think it's depends on local policy, you should check with your
own manager first. I didn't have any problems when I wanted to
swap for a larger car about 18 months ago (apart from finding
one!)

1781.83 | CORSA CDX SWAP ANYBODY???.. | SEDSWS::OCONNELL | PETER PERFECT | Tue Oct 17 1995 17:59 | 20 |
| I am thinking of getting a corsa cdx as my next company car,
unfortunately I am having a few problems persuading er indoors
that it is big enough to take us all out in.. 2 adults, 1 13 year
old and a 4 year old.
What I would like to do is find some kind person in Digital
somewhere in south or south east, who has a cdx preferably
to do a swap with me perhaps for a weekend, so I can get her
sold on it!!.
If it isnt actually big enough I am not too bothered because
if it is a cdx I reckon she'll like it well enough for me to go
for one in a couple of months time. Reason being to purchase it
at end of lease.
BTW my car is a cavalier LS 2.0I.
Thanks in advance........................................Patrick

If you don't get any takers contact Wadham Kenning and arrange an
extended loan of one. If the dealers don't have one available they
will arrange for Vauxhall Fleet to send you one. You'll get it
delivered and collected and even get a courtesy tank of fuel (or whats
left after they've delivered it).
The details are on vtx. If can't find the number reply here or drop
me a mail.

| ...oh and by the way my 2p's worth would be that it would be
too small as a main family car with two kids even if Ruby Wax
attempts to make it look like a limo !
I'd look at Astra or Vectra range. I too currently have a Cavalier
and although I loved the little Punto I had as a hire car (see my
update in the Punto note) the boot space was minute compared to the
Cav. I guess the Corsa would be the same so with 2 adults and 2
children there would be very limited room for luggage.
Anyway, try one and make up your own mind.

1781.89 | Vectra SRI to swap | CHEFS::KELLY_T | | Mon Feb 12 1996 16:58 | 21 |
| Hello,
From the Digital car scheme I have obtained a Vauxhall Vectra SRI. It
costs about 1100 pounds. I never bothered test driving the car before
receiving it, as I had already driven two 8v Cavalier SRI's which I
thought were excellent, except for the suspension being too soft.
After driving the Vectra SRI for 5000 miles I am totally disappointed
with the vehicle as the only thing vaguely sporting about it is the
alloy wheels and the leather gear knob. This car would appeal to
someone who isn't worried about a sporting car but likes lots of bells
and whistles (air con.,abs.,traction control, trip computer etc)
If anyone out there is driving a company lease car who would like to
swap with a Vectra SRI (flame red) please contact me on 01734 201693
or 0836 294616.
bye for now

1781.90 | Loosen up???? | CHEFS::WEAVERD | | Mon Feb 12 1996 18:13 | 19 |
| I haven't got anything that you would swap for, on the contrary a
Vectra CDX, supposedly more whistles and less sporting.
I have now done approaching 10,000 miles, and I was only discussiing
with the wife this weekend what a totally different car it is now to
the first five thousand miles. I came to this car from a Calibra turbo
(that I couldn't really afford), so I can talk about quick motors.
Anyway I am getting more impressed with the Vectra power unit day by
day as it loosens. I know that they say today, no need to run in etc.,
but the improvement is significant.
The point is that if you hang on to the Vectra it might improve as mine
has. Anyone else experienced these engines? Are they always horribly
tight when new perhaps??

Is anyone interested in the following swap??
It will be a permanent swap until end of lease due to changing
circumstances (family increasing!!!)
I am looking for a hatchback/estate
Less than 500 driver cost
Less than 9 months lease left.
I have:
Vauxhall Calibra SE4
Magnetic Blue
Cream Leather interior
1 year to run on lease
29,000 miles
driver cost 512ish (can't remember exactly)
This is more or less the same as the new SE5 but in blue instead of
black and the SE5 has a driver cost of about 1000.
I enjoy the Calibra very much but it only has 2 seat belt in the
back and child number 3 is due soon so I must don the family hat ;-{
