Can anyone tell me why Deltas and Prismas depreciate so badly. I am considering buying either a Delta GTie or a Prisma 1600ie secondhand, 1988 or later. Their alarming depreciation rate ( here in Ireland ) makes them very good value. At present i drive an Alfa 33 1500. I have owned three other Alfasuds. I would appreciate any info on the joys or sorrows of owning the above Lancia models. I know about Lancias'rust history, would I be right in expecting this problem to be solved in post 88 models?. Thanking you in advance.

Lancias depreciate so badly because of their bad history in the corrosion department. If you've had Sud's, you know what happens well enough ? I don't know from which year things were improved a lot, but some of the earlier Deltas seem to suffer badly with body rot, so you want to know the time at which things were improved. Looking at the vehicles will probably tell you that. At a guess, I would think you would be very safe in buying an '88 model, that seems sure to be late enough for rust-proofing to have been thought about. J.R. | |||||

I had an '87. Great little toy, but definitely had not beaten the rust bug. Later versions seem much better, incl Turbos & Integrales. |
