They often advertise in the papers.
I guess if you're buying cash they're a good deal, except that you
don't get the 'rapport' with the dealer (which can extend to free
loan cars while yours is being serviced, invites to unveilings, etc).
The big gotchas are (usually) no trade ins and (sometimes) high priced
finance (easily offset by getting it sorted out elsewhere).

They standard level of trim may differ from the main dealers as well,
meaning it may not be such a bargain if you have to pay for items that
are fitted as standard at a dealers.

| I know someone who bought a Mazda from 'Carfile' and it was actually
supplied through a Mazda dealer (in the Midlands) - So it was almost like
buying from a dealer except that the price/delivery time had been arranged
and all there was to do was pay on collection of the car. There was no deposit
etc to pay before delivery.
I think Carfile also have a lowish rate of finance.
I think that the way that they work is locating cars that have been sitting in
car dealerships around the country & arranging quite a good discount off list.

I have a card which covers me for "countdown" service, this offers
these deals.
I haven't used this myself, however a friend has, and the Jag he
bought was a few thousand off the cheapest dealer price he could get.
I plan to change my car in Sept/Oct this year, and if I can sell
it privately, I'll try for one of these deals. If not, then I'll go
for a dealers ex-demo and trade in, as I have done before.

| This months performance car has some great discounts they got off new
cars by just haggling at the dealer. Got 2000 ish of cars around the
15,000 list price. A massive 12,000(? I think) of a 70,000 Mercedes!

I remember reading an article some time back on new car brokers, some
were decidedly dodgey but the magazine did I'm sure say some good
things about 'Carfile'. As I don't have the magazine anymore, does
anybody else have any experience of them, and if possible a telephone
number for 'Carfile'.
