1705.0. "Motorbike MOT center" by CMOTEC::HARWOODJ (Judy Harwood - REO - 830 2879) Thu Feb 27 1992 09:27

Can anyone recommend a place to obtain MOT for a motorbike.
    In the Newbury/Reading area.

For the past 'n' years we've been to Craven Motors in Thatcham
but that is now only open on a Saturday and hubby would prefer
to have the bike tested tomorrow (Friday).

I've cross posted this in NEWBURY notes file.

    Judy,

Try "BEST OF BIKES" in Newbury. They are situated very close to the
Clock Tower at the top of town. (Next to the Chequers Hotel.)

    	Chris.

When I lived in Reading I used to use the Great Western Motors/ Honda (?) bike
garage at the back of railway station on Vastern Road. They always seemed to
be prety fair.

From memory it was necessary to book though.

Well I knew they were widening the road but hadn't realised it was going to be
that drastic..

Usually, I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, most motorcycle repairers
can/will MOT a motorcycle. The ones that I know of in this area are...

Smith's of Whitley Wood (ask for Ben) very handy for DEC park.
M.T.C. Oxford Road, ask for Terry. handy for town centre.
Higgs Motorcycles, Cemetary Junction, handy for Winnersh/A329
Motorcycle City (on MY personal DPL) in the phone book)
    Pegasus, Oxford road (as above)
Best of Bikes (as above) handy for Newbury

    Alan.

Hubby has just informed me that his bike has passed it's MOT.
He took it to Best of Bikes, who proved to be most helpful,
    polite and efficient.

He was also quite amused to discover after the test, that one
of the mechanics at Best of Bikes, probably built our bike when
he worked for Pegasus many moons ago !! (it's an 'S' reg Z400)

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions
