1682.0. "Classic Car Insurance." by NEWOA::SAXBY (Is Bart Simpson the Anti-Christ?) Mon Feb 03 1992 14:07

Does anyone have any suggestions (names and tel nos) for places
    to obtain Classic Car insurance?

At present I have the Marcos insured with the Norwich Union through
A.S. Flux and have just received a good looking quote (108), but as
I've just renewed without hesitation in previous years I thought this
may be a good time to try and get a few comparative quotes.

    Any suggestions?

    Mark

What car have you got......I joined the Triumph club and have got an
excellant deal compared with the usual companies (200 quid cheaper, no
    excess, guaranteed return).

What does it look like then Mark.......I'm wondering if I've seen it in
    the car park.

BTW - I see what you're saying in 480.0, being the owner of a spitty I
am getting used to being about half way down most peoples doors in
traffic queues...........it makes the speed exileration better though

    Mark,

You'll have to excuse Barry, he's a bit of thick lad who knows almost
    nothing about cars.

Sorry Barry but the truth has to come out.

    Don't worry Barry,

I get this all the time.

It looks a bit like an E-type and a bit like a 250 GTO Ferrari and a
bit like a GT6 and a bit like...

At the moment it looks mainly like a stationary object in my garage,
but maybe I'll try and fire it up this week, and then for the
    respray!!!!

Sounds good......my original inquiry was with respect to car clubs
    insurance plans.......saved me a hell of a lot......might be worth a
bit of investigation if I was you.

Both owners clubs recommend AS Flux (who I use).

Does anyone have a contact number (I think it's often in the kitcar
press) for a company called Osbornes? There is another company (whose
name I can't recall) who are often have a big stand at kit car/classic
car shows - Does anyone know who/where they are?

    Hi Mark,

I use Osbornes for the Caretham - they have a kit-car section and
seem to be able to cope with unusual cars. I also transferred my other
car to them as their quotes in combination beat any others I could get
by a long way. Contact -

you may be able to get a number from directory enquiries. I don't know

1682.15Get the Insurance in your handVIVIAN::MILTONInvisible person it seems!Thu Mar 12 1992 13:2912
I tried insuring my 308 gt4 with Bain Clarkson Ltd, I thought it was too
good to be true, we agreed everything over the phone (including the fact that I
had just had my last car stolen) and I sent the cheque with the proposal (the
contents of which they had taken down on the phone and said I only needed to send
one in because it needed my signature on it). I went and bought the car and
waited for the insurance certificate which of course didn't turn up. When I
phoned them the said they had decided against the risk - this would of been ok if
they had told me or intended to - but this seemed to be too much bother for them.
Not my favorite company!

Tony.
