I'm writing this note for a collegue who wishes to buy an automatic 6 seater car / people carrier in the Munich area for up to 20,000 DM. Background information :- Married, 4 kids, has registered as living and working in Germany, renting a house in Munich for up to 3 years. Both he and wife only have automatic licences. Apart from the obvious, (looking in papers, garages) does anybody know of a suitable, reliable vendor and what paperwork will be required. Regards, Richard. This note has been cross posted in MUNICH and GERMANY.

If he buys a car from a dealer there will be no paper work to fill out, just hand over ~120 DM and the dealer will do everything for him, otherwise it's a long wait down the local car registration dept ( have no idea what its called but someone else will ) , it's well worth the money not to have to take an afternoon off work to spend it queueing. As for reliable vendors, Munich is full of VAG, BMW and Merc dealers , he could try looking down Motorama which is under the Penta hotel near the Deutsches Mueseum, they have most makes of cars available to sit in and see if you like them, ( these are new though). The Suddeutsche Zeitung is also packed with cars ( all in alphabetical order ) at weekends, most of these are second hand. |
