I will be visiting London and the surrounding area for a week this March. While there, I would like to try to pick up some parts for my Jaguar XK150. Can anyone recommend some auto parts stores that would carry items such as brake parts (pads, rubber, etc) lucas electricals, etc? Cheers, Gil

I'd suggest you contact the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club, and the Jaguar Drivers' Club. The former has the better parts department. On arrival, I suggest you buy copies of all the leading Classic car mags, the proactical ones, rather than the pretty picture ones. I read Practical Classics, Your Classic, and another whose name escapes me. One of them ran a feature on MK IIs recently, it was full of Jag adverts. I'll try to remember to fish it out, and post a few numbers. Few, I suspect, will be "in London" Assuming the numbers are of use, I'd suggest a few credit-card mail orders, to a holding address near to the place you're visiting, which you can collect when you arrive. Thanks Laurie, I have a good friend who is a member of the Jaguar Drivers Club. I'll check with some of the publications he received. Come to think of it, HE was just in England, visiting the Jaguar factory! Any suggestions you could come up with (places you've had experience with, maybe?) would be great... Thanks for the advice... I usually use Norman Motors in Mill Hill. Their shop looks like a Pawnbrokers from the outside, but the staff are knowledgeable and friendly and they are usually well stocked with parts for all '50s to '70s Jaguars. Mail me if you need further information and I will dig out a copy of the JDC magazine. This lists at least six parts specialists around the London area. Brian (1966 3.8S) |
