I need to get my Volvo serviced. Why should I go to the dealer when I could go to Lucas? Is there any advantage? diana

Is your car a new car (age less than the length of the warranty)? Has your car got a full, dealer service history? If the first, NOT taking it to the dealer could void your warranty. If the second, ending that will almost certainly reduce the resale value. If neither are true, you can probably find someone providing better quality servicing without going to the dealer OR Lucas. No it isn't new. It is a 1986 340, but it has previously always been serviced by Volvo. The mileage is 29,000 and those were reasons why I bought it - because it was not used a lot and had been cared for. But am I going to an agent because they ARE better or because someone_in_the_future_who_might_buy_my_car would think it was better? diana

Probably the latter to be honest. Mark

A few years ago I had Volvo (360 GLT) and didn't get serviced at a Volvo dealer. When I went to a Volvo garage to get a price on my car I was told that if I had had it dealer serviced it would of increased the resale value by 300. Mind you I probably saved that amount in servicing costs by doing the work myself. Roy |
