| Yes, I've tried pressing the button several more times.
I've also listened very carefully to several other Cavaliers with alarms
to discover about 50% have a continuous clicking, though usually quieter
than mine. My conclusion is that it is not a malfunction but a feature
and that I probably have more accute hearing, especially for problem noises
after I have just bought a car !!!

Do the ultrasonics work?

PS Easily tested by getting my wife to lock the car! :^)

Sorry Ian, it doesn't work that way (although the answer is 25 :^))
Somehow, despite her protestations that she has locked or unlocked
the car correctly, she has an unhappy knack of setting off the car's
alarm. Even when all the doors and windows are locked and no-one is
around!
Of course, needless to say, it never happens the 99% of the time that
I drive the car!

She wouldn't like, but she couldn't disagree with it.

| Now that I'm out again, I can confirm that the ultrasonics do work,
when they are supposed to (i.e. locking the car without pressing the
"disarm ultrasonics" button) and don't work when they are supposed not to
(i.e. pressing the disarm ultrasonics button before locking the car).
What I don't understand is why they transmit continuously. The clicking
is there and sounds just the same whether the alarm is on or not.
Phil.

| Obviously doesn't turn off the ultasonic detector, only the triggering
by detection.
