1525.1 | Grotty PHH Mats | TRUCKS::SMART | Taste and try before you buy | Wed Aug 07 1991 18:16 | 6 |
| When I got my new car I took the grotty PHH mats out and swapped them
for the pukka Ford fitted rubber mats from my Hertz car that I was
returning. The only trouble is that after about 90K miles the drivers
mat is looking a little worse for wear.
I bet you can't buy just one!

| I had mediocre (SP) rubber mats that were fitted to this (Hertz) car
(Rover). The previuos car had Pukker Citroen mats.
What I don't understand from .0 is the hole?.
Did they make a hole in the original equipement to fit these tacky
things?. If so that's contrary to the reason for fitting the mats which
was to keep the carpet clean to improve resale value.

| both Hertz and PHH supplied proper Citroen rubber mats on my BX's.
However, I agree with .2; if they don't fit properly, I'd ditch them for
safety reasons.

Richard,
I think the point being made was that because the mats were so bad,
they were removed, and evidently the original carpets took all the
wear.

| Shaun is correct. I'm a high mileage driver (54,000 miles in 21
months) and it didn't take long for my right heel to make a hole in the
carpet mat!
Given that I'm not the only one to regard the PHH mats as dangerous, I
will contact Fleet and see if I can get them to make it policy to have
only manufacturers' fitted mats supplied with lease cars. I'll post
another Note to let you know how I get on.
