Hi, I guy rear-ended me a few ago. My car was repaired, and is now back on the road. No problem with my insurance company......yet! I have now been asked to contribute 50% towards the new exhaust which was fitted, due to the shunt. Also, the car is vibrating now (steering). I took it back into the V.A.G. dealer who did the body repair (INGRAMS, AYR, SCOTLAND). They stated that the front alloy wheel is bent, and a front wishbone bush is burst....the resultant being the vibration. My car (Audi Coupe), is only three years old, but my insurance company won't believe that the damage was/is due to the rear end damage. I remember the car ramming the curb after the shunt. The mechanic who looked at the mechanical damage, stated that he had never seen wear on a low mileage, fairly new Audi. Given the fact that the car has been serviced since new, I am beginning to lose my temper with Norwich Union, who basically refuse to accept that rear end body damage affects the front suspension. How should I pursue this, given that I KNOW that the vibration was NOT there before the shunt....? John....who is PI**ED off to say the least!

If you have DAS, let them handle it. If not, try the AA/RAC legal department ... | |||||

Typical NU behaviour. IMO, unless it's a load of dosh, I wouldn't waste your time. The NU will dig their heels in and will give you a tough time even if you take them to court. DAS will not take them to court, although they will threaten to. The NU know this. If you really want to get them, the chances are that they used an Independant Assessor to look at your car before it was repaired. Have a word with him, if he agrees, you stand a chance. If they used a staff assessor, then will the grage help ? Failing either of those, I dunno what you can do. M. |
