1508.0. "CARAVANNING? see TRUCKS::CARAVANS_UK" by TRUCKS::SMART (Taste and try before you buy) Mon Jul 22 1991 13:50

As an avid caravaner I only ever find passing references to caravans in
the notes file. I am aware of the RV conference but this is *very* US
orientated. Anybody interested in a CARAVANS_UK notes conference as a
    parallel conference to CARS_UK?

The conference could be used to exchange information on makes and
models, problems, site information, tow cars. accesories etc. The
    possibilities are endless.

If there is sufficient interest I don't mind setting it up. Reply to
this topic or mail me direct.

    Alan.

Yes Alan, I'd be interested....would you moderate ?
Certainly, there must be a wealth of experience to be shared from the
    Digital Caravaners!

    Re .0

I'd be keen to participate in such a conference. We started a couple of
years ago and whilst we don't caravan (if there is such a verb) in the
messianic way of some people that I have met [none were Deccies!])

For us it's a means to an end and not an end in itself.

TRUCKS:: is down in SBP, isn't it? If so Nigel Hughes might be
interested in knowing about this idea, but I'm sure he doesn't read
    this conference.

I don't mind moderating as I already do two work related conferences.
Call aready with our friends in IS as to the 'how to' in the setting
up of a conference. Of course a second mod is always useful ...
    volunteers?

I am aware of several 'vanners in SBP who I shall let know if there is
sufficient interest on the network but I am sure that such a conference
would at least be reported in Connect ;-)

Leaving aside the immense road speed that caravans travel at, i truly
admire the dedication of caravan owners, who have to put up with
looking at a parked caravan through their front room windows for 51
weeks of the year, and spend the remaining week slowly sinking in mud
in the middle of a field, miles from anywhere.

I dont know why someone has not thaught of it before.
I'm all fur it. Count me in.
I would certainly be interested in the "Euro" experiences
as it is not something that is easy to find out about without
	going.

I have now set up a conference for caravan nuts like myself.

Alan, since you have now sorted out permission for a non-work
related conference, how about setting up an all-wheel-drive notes
file, for U.K. biased entries ?
