1381.0. "Another Motorcycle Rathole" by UNTADH::LEWIS (Have Bike, will Ski...) Mon Mar 11 1991 12:51

Is filtering legal in Germany ?
Apologies for asking here, but can't reach RANGER, and euro_motoring
seems to be dead these days.

I have noticed that no german bikers bother to 'filter' to the front of
queues, and when I do it (only had the bike over here a week), it
causes a bit of upset in the ranks.

I know it is illegal in Switzerland (mind you, most swiss drivers would
do it if they could get their cars on two wheels), but I don't know
    about here ?

It will depend on the Bundesland your in, but most likely it is not
legal. HOWEVER........ most police will allow it as long as you do it
at a 'moderate' speed and take due care (whatever that means). Best bet
would be to contact the plods in your area. No way you should be eating
someone else's exhaust fumes. If you do get stopped, speak broken
German (I speak broken Engelies when stopped by the plods here...
worked twice!!!), claim you didn't know and promise never to do it
    again.

    Gr Gtt...
Ta for the info, I shall probably carry on as at present (behaving
when there is a Deutschesplod around ;-)

As for the broken Deutsche - Keine Probleme, I haven't managed to fix
    it yet.

PS might I just take this opportunity to say what a pleasure it is to
note in a conference where a sense of humour is appreciated :-)

Watch out Rob, some of your long distance times would upset a few
people in here, and if you ever repeat what you said to me about
diesels, there'd be a lynch mob on its way to Munich!

We're a reasonable mob in here, we don't even complain when our pns get
    nicked ....

1381.4Nee Hee you rotten lot !UNTADI::LEWISHave Bike, will Ski...Tue Mar 12 1991 15:497
    Oh, that's where I found it :-)

Well, I thought as you weren't using it anymore - Mind you

"Have Wartburg, Will Ski" wouldn't have the same ring to it, would it ?

Maybe this should be a 'seen in passing', but when we were skiing we
got up to the top of the mountain, to be greeted by the sight of a
motorcycle driving down the piste...... (wasn't you was it? ... :-) )

RE: .5,

I'd like to know how you got to the top of the piste by skiing.

I find it much too much like hard work!
