1357.1 | Try Marparts | SHAPES::KINGHORNJ | Funtime Software {:o) | Wed Feb 06 1991 09:54 | 6 |
| Try Marparts on Gosbrook Road, Caversham next to Waitrose - Cheaper
than most of the big name suppliers, and they seem to know what they're
talking about (ever tried getting help from a Halfords assistant?)
PS They'll take the old battery off your hands.

Yes, and I ended up having to lend him my penknife to cut off a
length of hose from a reel, because all they could find was a pair of
sissors! :-)

| My battery was flat this morning, I need to get it checked at
lunchtime. I am working in the CSC at Viables today. Can somebody give
me directions to the nearest decent tyre/battery centre? Thanks.
Phil Gill.

| Ralph motors, near the Golden Lion (They are good, though not
specifically on Batteries)
Motorland , near the Golden Lion (no idea how good they are)
Halfords should be fine.

| Thanks, but it seems more serious than I thought. It wouldn't start at
lunchtime, and jump leads from a friends car produced nothing more than
lots of heat. Jump leads from the breakdown truck didn't produce any
heat, just a few very strained turns of the engine. Eventually it burst
into life. Turned the engine off, it started straight away without a
problem. There's no way the battery charged up that quickly. It got
towed off to Hadleys soon after for deeper investigation. Starter
motor?
Phil Gill.
