1149.0. "Lucas (and other) Electric Fuel Pumps" by SAGE::AUSTIN (Tom @TTB/Nashua 'Grace, Space & Pace...') Sun Jul 15 1990 15:28
I'm looking for info and honest recommendations on electric
fuel pumps (Lucas...). First, let me declare my own insanity
and be done with it: I want to install a Lucas electric fuel
pump in a car not originally fitted with one!
Car: Triumph Spitfire (1500), twin DCOE40 carbs, many other
mods (Kent Fast Road cam, Triumph Tune Stage III head, etc.).
I have been suffering with some US made electric fuel pumps.
I want to fit an 'old style' Lucas electric fuel pump (the
one with points that wear out, like I had on my MkIX Jag and
my 60's Mini's) that will feed my 1500's carbs at around 3.0psi.
If anyone has specs on the old Lucas pumps or recommendations
as to which cars had the right size pump (what would you fit to
a hotted up 1275, for example), please send mail...
If anyone has experience with another line of low pressure
electric pumps (that operate on a DEMAND basis, not continuously)
please also advise...
Thanks,
