1143.0. "Triumph Herald??" by SHAPES::STREATFIELDC (VW Beetle.. IOSG::AIR_COOLED) Mon Jul 09 1990 13:08

    I have seen a Triumph Herald for sale in our local village, half in
    primer for a respray,

    Information;   13/60
                   saloon
                   fabric sunroof
                   1969
                   400 pound ono.

    Looks solid enough, but being a Volkswagon man, I do not know the
    prices of these cars,
    The car had tax, and I presume MOT, as it is being driven around.
    Does anyone know how much this sort of car goes for?,

1143.1Sounds expensive...IOSG::MARSHALLHarry PalmerMon Jul 09 1990 13:1714
I heard recently of a mechanically sound but MOT-failed bodywork Vitesse
(that's a Herald with four headlights and a six-cyl engine) going for 75. The
mechanical parts for these cars are now in short supply, and in demand for
restoration / kit donor parts.

The cars are also now becoming "collectable", and because so few are for sale
at any time, the asking price depends on what people are prepared to pay.

If it's in good condition, both mechanically and bodywork, the price may be
reasonable. If it needs anything more than minor work, then it's overpriced.

Try looking through classic car mags and see what concours ones fetch...

    re : .0

    The current valuations that I have available now are as follows

    cond.3 (roadworthy,basically in need of a lot of work) 400
    pounds,

    cond.2 (roadworthy,complete,generally in need of minor mechanical
            and body repairs)  1000 pounds,

    cond 1.(roadworthy,complete,average wear and tear considering year
    of manufacture ie:some rust but no big holes etc..) 1500 pounds

    concours : better-than-when-it-left-the-showroom !!! 2800 pounds.

    Note : the above figures are the sum for which you should INSURE
    the vehicle (on an 'agreed value' policy).

    Basically if it fits any of the cond1,cond2,concours categories,you've
    got a bargain.

                       Regards,
                                Huw..

    Vitesse/13/60 bonnets.
