1078.0. "Spraying and repair advice sought ....." by CHEFS::CLEMENTSD (Public Sector and Telecomms) Mon May 21 1990 12:30

OK Folks, it's time that the old lady ('77 Ford Granada 3L GL saloon)
    got some TLC.

I have two problems to attend to on the bodywork:

1	There is a constant leak of water into the boot. I thought that
the sealing strip around the boot rim had gone but not so......
'tis more serious. There is a panel which appears to be the rear
parcel shelf which has rusted through and water can enter the boot
through this hole via the air vents in the rear quarter panel.

2	The paint finish is two coat clear over base metallic.

I am not able to undertake major body repairs (no skill in that
area). Can anybody recommmend a body shop that's interested in the
unusual that won't rip me off?

I am able to get the car to a primered state with all superficial
rust removed, but am loathe to try to spray a two coat metallic
paint (only have single garage and whilst my spray gun will give
an acceptable finish with primer, have doubts about metallic finishes).
Can anybody recommend a sprayshop that will be prepared to take
on a "just finish coat" job? Car would be provided with all trim
removed and would only need masking up.

Wouldn't go anywhere else - and they will do the unusual as well. At
last visit they were converting an Escort mk3 to rear wheel drive..
