1076.0. "Obtaining minor consumables for leasemobile." by COMICS::SCOBLE (Cantankerous. Me!) Fri May 18 1990 00:48

Can anyone shed some light on what your PHH or Hertz card
actually covers you for in terms of having a need to obtain
items like light bulbs or touch up paint? The cost of these
may be relatively small, but I was extremely suprised to hear
from my local main dealer that PHH, in this case, often do not
give authority for such parts to be obtained against the card.
As they contribute directly to the safety and condition of
the car, I would not have thought there was an issue with this.

Does anyone else have experience of this kind of situation,
and followed up and sought some clarification?

	Gordon

If you are talking about a replacement bulb set...not a chance, you
have to pay for those yourself, same with the touchup paint...

If a bulb blows and you take it to a garage to fix, then you can put it
    on your Card.

Your PHH card covers you for up to 50 without authorization, over that
the garage should ring PHH before doing the work.

I have used my PHH card to obtain a new indicator lenz and a set of windscreen
wipers for my car. I did have problems with the garage who said that PHH
wouldn't allow it. I phoned PHH and they said no problem sir. That annoyed the
garage immensly but I saved myself 15 quid or so.

I was rather under the impression that we have to buy "consumables"
ourselves, and claim them back via expenses. Now, if PHH will pay for
consumables, how do you think they would feel about paying for my
    petrol ?? ;-)

1076.4Will Hertz card pay for replacement speakers ?COMICS::SHELLEYRRoy Shelley UK TSCMon May 28 1990 18:0711
I have a problem with the rear speakers on my xr3i. They are badly
distorted. To replace them do I -
    a) Get a garage to replace them, and charge it to my hertz prime card.
Or b) Replace them myself and put in an expense claim.
Or c) Replace them myself and have to live with the expense.

This is a Hertz lease car.

    Thanks for your comments,

1076.6Not Wheel TrimMALLET::MARTINMon Jun 18 1990 11:053
My experience of PHH is that tyres, windscreen, and windscreen wipers
are covered. But a missing wheel trim was not covered.
