933.2 | Two from here | VOGON::MORGAN | This Trivial Veneer | Tue Jan 23 1990 12:48 | 11 |
| There are two quotes for a 323 SE that have gone in from
my group. They were sent about 10 days ago. Both were for the fastback
model.
I know that the quotes were different but I can't remember in what
respect !!
All I can suggest is watch VTX !!

VTX Fleet info is only updated once a week. I don't think looking every day
will change the info any quicker!
It states a date when the info base was last updated.

updated every night I think you'll find.

933.6 | .... 925 any good? .... | CHEFS::CLEMENTSD | Public Sector and Telecomms | Tue Jan 23 1990 17:56 | 6 |
| I may be wrong but I seem to remember a reference to the rule about
numbers of quotes recently. Perhaps it was in 925? Seems that tyhe
general opinion is that you can only have two quotes being processed
at any one time. Soon as a quote goes out of validity, you can get
another. Course, if the price for a repeat quote for an identical
car is higher than the first, you,ve got a fight on your hands.

| It was me who made reference to the two quote rule (I can't
remember where either).
Basically, a colleague who rang Car Fleet was told that he could
put two quotes in for 'processing' at a time. That is to say, as
soon as one quote had come back, he could put in another - which
in fact he did. There was no requirement to wait for a quote to
expire.

Ooh, I didn't know that ! I thought you were only allowed two quotes
full stop. Solves my problem ! Thanks !

933.9 | A Long Time Coming.... | VOGON::MORGAN | Ceasefire is Lebanese for re-loading | Tue May 01 1990 14:30 | 16 |

Back to the subject....
Order a 323F now and you won't get it until October.
I've just phoned Swindon Mazda to confirm and the guy there said even
October might be a bit optimistic.
Well by then no doubt the time period between ordering and receiving
the car will have expired so I'll have to get a re-qoute for the
same car. Undoubtedly the price will have gone up by then...
Methinks I might cancel the order and go for something else...

Dropped into Swindon Mazda on Saturday (I live just a short distance
away).. and they told me that delivery on a 323 F SE EXEC manual
(lease or buy) would be "about two months"
(they said that the lead time had been much longer before.. but things
were "sorting themselves out")
Thats what the man told me !

| RE .9 - I'm now told that I will get the car either late this month or
early next.
I called Mazda headquarters in Tunbridge Wells and their info was that
there is STILL a 4/5 month wait for 323F GTs.
Yours waiting patiently

the car arrive. As pa-in-law says, whats the hassle ?, you're not

| The wife went for a job interview with Newbury Mazda. Had a chat with
the guy about delivery delays on the 323F GT.
He said that he had 29 orders for the GT for August 1. Since that date
he has had 7 GTs through the garage. PHH/Hertz are at the bottom of his
delivery list - why should he give them 15% discount when he can get
full price from Joe Public. He thinks PHH/Hertz might get some cars by
Christmas.
In fact there were x 2 323F GTs on the forecourt waiting for buyers.
I've cancelled mine and taken a 626 2.0GT Coupe from the cars to take
over list.

| On the assumption that someone, somewhere, must have had a 323
delivered by now :- has anybody got any opinions about the car that
they'd like to share ?
My leasemobile is due for replacement this summer. Judging by the
delivery times discussed above, Ill back date my quote request to 1891.
I'm interested in the 323F SE EXEC. Wouldn't mind the GT, but it's a
tad pricey for me.
So, views please !

933.21 | Mazda 323f | LARVAE::MITCHELL | Citta del Duomo English branch | Tue Feb 19 1991 10:48 | 17 |
| Hi
I have had mine (323f gti) and I must say it is fantastic. It is fast
and nippy and handles quite well what with the power steering et al.
On the down side I find reversing difficult due to a restricted view.
In comparison with my previous car (Golf Gti) I would say it looks
better and has the edge in speed. It doesn't hold the road as well and
doesn't give the feeling of power/safety that the Golf had.
All in all I feel I made a good choice and am very pleased that I
waited and didn't cancel.

933.22 | 323F SE EXEC | KERNEL::SHELLEYR | | Fri Feb 22 1991 10:55 | 28 |
| The following is from a colleague who has a 323F SE EXEC...
I'm really pleased with my Mazda. I've only had it 5 weeks and it is running
really well. I've got the 323F SE EXEC which only has the 1600 16 valve engine
so it's not really all that fast but it is very comfortable to drive - if
you're someone who needs a bit of leg room then there is plenty in the front
but with the seats fully back it's a bit cramped in the back.
The power steering is really good. I used to drive an R5GTT which did not
have power steering and was a real struggle to steer in comparison.
The other features which are nice are the electric windows which have an
overiding control panel on the drivers door - useful if perhaps you've got kids
in the back who could fiddle with the windows. Also the electric sunroof and
mirrors all come as standard.
The stereo has 4 speakers and is one of these CATS systems - i can't remember
what it stands for but basically you have to enter a 4 digit number before it
can be used in another car....a pretty good deterrent against thieves.
The boot is fairly large and the back seats split for extra space. The one
problem with the boot is the 'lip'....ie if you have something heavy then to
lift it over the deep lip could be difficult.
In summary, from my experience so far, i would say that if you're looking for
power then it has little to offer but if you're after comfort and luxury with a
sporty look then it might be th car for you.

I test drove 323 F GTI. It is quite fast between 0-60 mph, but after
that acceleration "cools down". Handling is not very impressing,
power steering is bad when you drive fast on highway; it is unsteady.
Suspension is not as good as best european got.
